CYRILLIC FONT HELP

    For best results, retry reading/typing Cyrillic after completing each of the 3 steps.  Don't forget to toggle to Cyrillic by simultaneously pressing the Ctrl and Shift keys.  A small blue box near the bottom right corner denotes which keyboard is being used with the letters EN for English or RU Russian.
     

    1.  Check the keyboard layout:
     

    • Left click the Start button.
    • Select Settings.
    • Select Control Panel.
    • Double click Keyboard.
    • Left click the Input Locales tab.
    • If the "RU Russian" locale is not present, click the add button.
    • Scroll down to Russian, highlight the entry and click ok.
    • The RU Russian entry must also display "Russian" under layout on the right side of window.
    • Under the switch locales heading, select ctrl+shift.
    • Click OK.


    2.  Install Fonts:

    •  Select this link and save the program to your C drive. (Remember the name of the folder in which it is saved.)
    • Run the program by clicking the icon or go to start, run, and type in the full path for the program russfont.exe
    • When the WinZip Self-extractor window appears, press the unzip button, then press ok, and close the window.
    • Go to the start menu and select settings, then control panel.
    • The control panel window will appear.  Double Click on fonts.
    • Fonts window will open.  Go to file, install new font.
    • The install font window will open.  Select c: for the drive.  Double click the temp folder.  3 fonts should appear.
    • Press the select all button, then click ok.


    3.  Check font selection:
     

    • Left Click on Netscape's Edit Menu.
    • Select Preferences.
    • The Preferences window will appear, click on fonts if available.  (Otherwise click the + next to Appearance, then click on fonts.)
    • For the Encoding, choose Cyrillic.
    • For Variable Width Font, choose New Russian.
    • For Fixed Width Font, choose Courier Cyrillic.

    • Click OK.
